Their tree-planting efforts are also serving as a model for sustainable forestry across the Caucasus Hotspot.Sept. 26, 2006 First Grantee Meeting A Success Conservationists and scientists representing 35 nongovernmental organizations from five countries met to discuss their experiences, challenges, and achievements as CEPF grantees.August 2006 Calling Nature’s Caretakers… Working through partner organizations in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey, BirdLife International has recruited 31 local conservation heroes to extend its caretaker network in sites critical for the conservation of globally threatened species in the Caucasus Hotspot. April 2006 New Fund for Protected Areas in the Caucasus CEPF has pledged $300,000 toward the start up of a Caucasus Protected Areas Fund, which will provide up to 50 percent of the basic annual operating costs of protected areas having the highest biodiversity. October 2002 WWF Develops Framework for Investment in the Caucasus CEPF has entered into a partnership with the WWF Caucasus Programme to determine strategic opportunities for future CEPF investments to do the most good in the Caucasus biodiversity hotspot, which spans approximately 420,000 square kilometers across six countries between the Black and Caspian seas. | |
