Biodiversity Hotspots
This site is a vast resource with extensive information on the 34 global hotspots. Get basic information and vital statistics for each hotspot, including unique biodiversity, human impact, and conservation action. You can also search the database of all threatened species in any hotspot.

Corredors de Biodiversidade da Mata Atlantica
Find comprehensive Portuguese language listings, chat forums, and many other resources focusing on the Atlantic Forest Hotspot.

Coastal Forests of Tanzania and Kenya
This site has vital information on nearly 200 forests in the region including most of the known knowledge of the coastal forests. Research the extensive compilation of publications on the state of, and pressures facing, these forests.

Eco-Index
This site houses information on more than 1,000 conservation projects in the Americas, including at least 100 CEPF-supported projects. It has a searchable database, award-winning projects and indices of migratory species and sustainable tourism.

Forest Regeneration in Tanzania
This site has a comprehensive identification guide for the seed, seedlings, and fruits of the East Usambara Mountains and photos of many of the endemic plants and animals. It also shows how members of local communities are involved in research and links to several key resources.

Global Amphibian Assessment
See the findings of the first study of all amphibian species known to science to assess their conservation status. Search more than 5,900 species by name, taxonomy, country, region, habitat type, threat type, or IUCN Red List status.

Global Invasive Species Database
An extensive database that focuses on alien species that threaten native biodiversity, it covers all taxonomic groups from micro-organisms to animals and plants and helps identify effective prevention and management activities. Search by species, location, habitat, and more.

Madagascar
Explore this interactive site that highlights an extensive study of the biodiversity, human impact, and the efforts to preserve the remaining forests and animal species on the island. Photos and videos help tell the history of Madagascar, and the people and animals that live there today.

Madagascar Vegetation Mapping Project
See the results of a three-year study, including the interactive and PDF versions of the map and vegetation classification list.

Plant Conservation Assessment in the Eastern Arc Mountains and Coastal Forests of Kenya and Tanzania
Thanks to a comprehensive study of targeted plants in the region, this site includes a compilation of existing information on the plants including previously published data, specialist knowledge, and new conservation assessments.

SKEP Database
This extensive, searchable database focusing on the Succulent Karoo Hotspot includes more than 12,000 references. Intended to support land-use planning and policymaking in the region, the SKEP Database contains literature dealing with the southern Africa Arid Zone dating from 1759 to 2007.

Survey of Cederberg Amphibians and Reptile for Conservation and Ecotourism
Find detailed information on a vast array of amphibians and reptiles that are endemic to South Africa's Greater Cederberg Biodiversity Corridor including their biology, distribution, and conservation status.

Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species
The convention is an agreement between governments to prevent trade of specimens of animals and plants from threatening their survival. Get information on the organization and search its databases of species and trade, identification manual, and more.

Convention on Migratory Species
Aimed at conserving terrestrial, avian and marine species throughout their range, the convention has been joined by more than 100 nations. The site allows access to official convention documents, publications, and activities for numerous species.

Millennium Ecosystem Assessment
More than 1,300 experts studied the world’s ecosystems from 2001-2005 and appraised conditions and trends. This site allows you to research their findings that contain scientific bases for conservation and sustainability.

Ramsar Convention on Wetlands
Working for the conservation and wise use of wetlands around the world, the site contains key documents, extensive list of wetlands of international importance, handbooks for wise use, and much more.

Red List of Threatened Species
Search the IUCN’s comprehensive database for the conservation status of species, subspecies, varieties and selected subpopulations. You can search by region, threat type, habitat type, and more.

UNESCO World Heritage Convention
From the Minaret and Archaeological Remains of Jam in Afghanistan to the Matobo Hills of Zimbabwe, search the list and find in-depth information on more than 850 places that the World Heritage Council deems as having outstanding international value.
