The future of conservation seems bleak without the support of impeccable data. Having felt this need, CEPF and the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) brought together the French Institute of Pondicherry and Strand Life Sciences Limited to make the ‘Western Ghats Portal’ possible. This priceless data bank holds some of the most meticulously researched copy righted works of individual researchers and is of great help to others who are working in the same field. The Portal pieces together studies from different walks of life and makes sustainability possible, by making data accessible to implementing bodies.
