Prevent the construction of new roads through the Mayan Biosphere Reserve that would introduce new threats, especially the Uaxactún – Arroyo Negro Road. Key activities and results will include approval of a resolution by the CONAP restricting new roads, public outreach, stakeholder awareness building and collaboration, and cooperation between Mexican and Guatemalan authorities and nongovernmental organizations.

Strategic Direction: 1 Foster civil society participation in regional decisionmaking on select policies and investments to promote the conservation and sustainable development of the Selva Maya and the Selva Zoque and Chiapas/Guatemala Highlan
