The main objective of the project is to empower the community-based organizations to become the stewards of the Tsimembo-Manambolomaty protected area. The project teams will supervise the local management structure and offer training to enhance the organizational and technical capacities of local committees, to associate them in control, monitoring or planning activities activities. The process will follow a "learning by doing" approach for the joint surveillance mission, the updating of the management plan and the awareness-raising activities. The project includes restoration of degraded land and promotion of alternative sources of income or improved agricultural and fishing practices, in close partnership with local associations.
1 Empower local communities to protect and manage biodiversity in priority key biodiversity areas.
