BirdLife South Africa will secure the protection of the 1,928 hectare Tillietudlem site that lies within the Mistbelt Grasslands key biodiversity area in KwaZulu-Natal. BirdLife will engage the land owner, conduct a biodiversity site assessment, develop a management plan, assist in the negotiation and declaration of a formal stewardship agreement, facilitate a site advisory committee, conduct annual biodiversity audits, and lead avian monitoring efforts. The site links to the Impendle Nature Reserve, one of the most important breeding areas for Blue Swallows. The provincial conservation agency, Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, is a key partner in this grant.

Strategic Direction: 2 Expand conservation areas and improve land use in 19 key biodiversity areas through innovative approaches
