Improve basic knowledge of the biodiversity in the protected Levens Archipelago by training marine science students from the University of Antsiranana on marine data collection and analysis as well as how to interpret that data to local fishing associations. Cultivate a sense of ownership of resources in the marine reserve among the fishing associations in order to conserve biodiversity and encourage sustainable livelihoods. The project aims to involve local stakeholders to ensure that management actions and protection of marine biodiversity are sustainable in the long term for the region.
2 Enable civil society to mainstream biodiversity and conservation into political and economic decision-making.
