Promote sustainable management of natural resources on Mussau Island by improving the food security of local communities and reducing human-animal conflict arising from herbivory of edible seaweed by marine turtles. Support the development and registration of a community-based organization capable of independently applying for small grants and implementing practical projects that respond to local conservation and development priorities.

Strategic Direction: 1 Empower local communities to protect and manage globally significant biodiversity at priority Key Biodiversity Areas under-served by current conservation efforts
