Using a participatory approach, the project aims to identify baseline information on sustainable income generation alternatives for families of two communities, surrounding National Park Los Haitises, that contribute to reducing the loss of biodiversity. One of the main natural national parks in the Dominican Republic, Los Haitises and its surroundings, have some of the greatest floristic biodiversity in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean. However, the flora in the park is under threat due to encroachment from farming and logging.
