Siau island is known in biodiversity conservation as the home of two island endemic species Siau Scops-owl and Siau Island Tarsier. The two species are in CR status due to massive conversion of natural forests into agriculture plantation. CEPF is working through local organization Celebio to confirm the survival of both species as well as to raise local community and government awareness in conservation.

Strategic Direction: 1 Address threats to high priority species
